Indications

Topical salicylic acid is pregnancy-safe, according to the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. It is always advisable to confirm with your healthcare practitioner.

Directions

Facial application:

Apply on cleansed skin before bedtime. Spray on fingertips and apply over the face avoiding eyelids and lips. Rinse off in the morning. Always use SPF 30 or greater during the day.

Body application:

Spray 1 – 3 sprays on affected areas morning and/or night. Clean skin prior to application. Spread the product by gently rubbing the area. Always use SPF 30 or greater during the day.

 

Mode Of Action

SALICYLIC ACID

Exfoliation: Salicylic acid works by loosening and breaking apart desmosomes (attachments between cells in the outer layers of the skin). This action encourages exfoliation of dead and damaged skin and unclogging of pores.

Blackheads and Whiteheads: Salicylic acid is lipophilic, which means it can penetrate oily skin and clogged pores, resulting in deep cleaning.

Acne and Inflammation: Salicylic acid can reduce sebum secretion, which is another way it can help reduce acne. Salicylic acid reduces inflammation by modulating COX2 gene expression to decrease the formation of pro-inflammatory

GLYCOLIC ACID

Exfoliation: Glycolic acid facilitate progressive weakening of cohesion of the intercellular material of the outermost layers of the skin (stratum corneum), resulting in uniform exfoliation.

Pigmentation:

• Remove dead, damaged, and discolored skin cells by inducing a speedy chemical exfoliation. Dark spots from post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation are also more likely to reduce in color and appearance, faster.
• Drive new skin cells to the surface of the face. This spurred cell renewal helps to reveal the healthier, underlying skin, and promotes a more even skin tone overall.
• Suppress melanin formation by inhibiting tyrosinase activity.

 

Acne:

• Reduce acne-related inflammation.
• Exhibit pH-dependent antibacterial activity against C. acnes. At a pH of 3-3.5 glycolic acid kills C. acnes cells by disrupting bacterial cell membranes.

 

Aging skin:

• Exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal the newer, brighter layers underneath by acting on the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of skin). Normal, intact stratum corneum consists of tightly packed layers of dead skin cells that are tightly bonded together. Glycolic acid loosens these bonds. With their glue dissolved by glycolic acid, those tough, rough layers of dead skin cells can more easily slough away.
• The small molecular size of glycolic acid allows for deeper penetration in the skin layers where it stimulates fibroblasts to produce increased amounts of collagen. By stimulating collagen production, it helps skin feel firmer and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.
